




I can’t quite remember when in 2022 this was taken, but it was out of season and, despite the hints of blue sky, it was quite a grim day. Grounds never quite look their best outside of the cricket season, and this may have been the case here, but there were certainly some external distractions.
Like the Racecourse Ground in Durham at the other end of the country, there is a good view of the cathedral – Truro cathedral that is, not Durham. On one side the boundary gives way to an expanse of water. As you can see from one of these photos, I was distracted by the local wildlife.
I have been reading a book by Ed Smith, and he mentions playing Cornwall at Truro in a C&G game in 2003, so it must be a top quality surface.
