I didn’t realise I’d be watching two future England players during this Blast game at Grace Road. I could sense a bit of a buzz when Rehan Ahmed came on to bowl and he had a decent match – taking 2/22 and hitting 18 from 12 balls in a game that Durham won quite easily.
I would never have guessed that he would be making his England debut at age 18 within eight months. As I write this in July 2025, he’s out of the squads and his batting seems to be coming along at a faster rate than his bowling. I really do hope he fulfills his potential in both disciplines.
