If I’m driving and I spot a new cricket ground, it’s important to find a safe place to pull over and take a few photos. It’s not always possible, but I was in luck this time. You also need to be able to spot a ground from a random field, and on this occasion, the top of the nets gave it away.
This is Holmesfield Cricket Club who play in the Derbyshire County Cricket League. The ground revealed itself as I drove to the Peak District and it looked a nice spot, even though the weather was a but grim. This was June 2021, just as the UK was opening up after lockdown, and I was about to enjoy my first professional game for over a year.
