Across my 20+ years of trading on eBay, I’ve handled many postcards, and here’s one that crosses two sports. Dennis Compton played 78 tests for England, and if there is anyone out there who didn’t know, he was also on Arsenal’s books from 1936 to 1950.
The postcard was unused and had no publisher. For the sake of completion, I’ve included a second card that came with it.
In 1976, while at Lord’s watching England v West Indies, my Dad spotted Compton and got him to sign our programme. Sadly, while I’ve still got many of my souvenirs, that one is long gone.
